One thing you cannot leave the house without?<br />My purse... does that count? I guess if I really had to choose just one thing it would be my keys so I could get back in haha<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjndzB3EVLsrho7qDelHpYLRoZMdcTG6b0iKeannVh9lC6KAG9ji05NACgMcM18MxxJDocKqoLh4O0KFOW3zdcFLiamQg060O3Nbr2dWVl1YtM-jsuc3ToLzrGcitPt7hMGUGox6vSiYzE/s1600-h/evepearl.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 30px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjndzB3EVLsrho7qDelHpYLRoZMdcTG6b0iKeannVh9lC6KAG9ji05NACgMcM18MxxJDocKqoLh4O0KFOW3zdcFLiamQg060O3Nbr2dWVl1YtM-jsuc3ToLzrGcitPt7hMGUGox6vSiYzE/s200/evepearl.jpg" alt="Eve Pearl Makeup" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367347405840804226" border="0" /></a>2. Favorite brand of makeup?<br />That is a really hard one because I don't use just one brand. I find the best products no matter what brand they are and just because one brand is good at making one thing doesn't mean they're good at making others. If I could only use one brand for the rest of my life I think I would go with Bare Escentuals or Eve Pearl.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK_SYZ3hKEmoznEtjH2pvmBKX2CcroMQzaHAEJuHEjcKg2XxnlHXwAzDlzBVmn7nD-Opzqh5chkMmTLZw9dPlfsqJsl_wYECWRiVYdQbiFef3TosWCEQjaLGdXXBBTTAN10U7X5uegoqI/s1600-h/callalily.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 30px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK_SYZ3hKEmoznEtjH2pvmBKX2CcroMQzaHAEJuHEjcKg2XxnlHXwAzDlzBVmn7nD-Opzqh5chkMmTLZw9dPlfsqJsl_wYECWRiVYdQbiFef3TosWCEQjaLGdXXBBTTAN10U7X5uegoqI/s200/callalily.jpg" alt="Calla Lily" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367347484986851650" border="0" /></a>3. Favorite Flower?<br />Lilies! Calla Lilies and Tiger Lilies are tied as my favorite. I really like any lilies and I also like mini roses.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE-RKtEVaPjWKpIL3jwmcCSggUpQ8X0Nl8nOXdruPTeT-cbusKbod_c7wjcPyPXJLwosE-PawgouNq5VZgwqz4FjZD4rIXOHTQXLsPZpQNJwctSxgrlSRGJP7MJAXHII_pNoZBIJ0f8Rs/s1600-h/forever21.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 75px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE-RKtEVaPjWKpIL3jwmcCSggUpQ8X0Nl8nOXdruPTeT-cbusKbod_c7wjcPyPXJLwosE-PawgouNq5VZgwqz4FjZD4rIXOHTQXLsPZpQNJwctSxgrlSRGJP7MJAXHII_pNoZBIJ0f8Rs/s200/forever21.jpg" alt="Forever 21" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367347541468690754" border="0" /></a>4. Favorite Clothing Store?<br />Forever 21 because they have tons of cute clothes and their clothes are small enough for me to wear. It's really hard to find clothes in my size.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrX5Ly4pVoesrSKXlAbgfUxzXR2Qv6kZS0V-glMy7cdlVshVoYSPi-PuDObge-6-Ah8XIntwDL4UodDVnDSydoG1KgV3qSB969EoyfTUoRZHOWqijMO3hJCHfBgQJ65lq-6_JPk3yMOj4/s1600-h/coconutvanille.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 50px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrX5Ly4pVoesrSKXlAbgfUxzXR2Qv6kZS0V-glMy7cdlVshVoYSPi-PuDObge-6-Ah8XIntwDL4UodDVnDSydoG1KgV3qSB969EoyfTUoRZHOWqijMO3hJCHfBgQJ65lq-6_JPk3yMOj4/s200/coconutvanille.jpg" alt="Coconut Vanille" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367347790473529810" border="0" /></a>5. Favorite Perfume?<br />I have an old bottle of a scent called Caribbean Vanilla that isn't made anymore. It reminds me of the island I grew up going to because it smells like a mix between the salty ocean and the sweet snow cones that we used to eat. My second favorite is Bath & Body Works </span>Ile de Tahiti Coconut Vanille.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4o9jRii5rfeqpCkmol3JTWPaiHWxTpDq-p0hyphenhyphenbGOjq2p2KUYYMK641qhBRTjqHO7flBpnZBlU8BrOgiHZ9FjFEQ2EYU4ovlGdjUWsxkkL86ZCu0RBvy-K0W4xsUtV0WlIjmdm_kgYnAU/s1600-h/wedgeheels.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 60px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4o9jRii5rfeqpCkmol3JTWPaiHWxTpDq-p0hyphenhyphenbGOjq2p2KUYYMK641qhBRTjqHO7flBpnZBlU8BrOgiHZ9FjFEQ2EYU4ovlGdjUWsxkkL86ZCu0RBvy-K0W4xsUtV0WlIjmdm_kgYnAU/s200/wedgeheels.jpg" alt="Wedge Heels" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367348081842049714" border="0" /></a>6. Heels for flats?<br />Definitely heels. I rarely wear flats because I have super high arches and they hurt my feet.<br /><span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnY8TUdPhmcyZEEtbx7npo0zjhujxJt4nP8SShFkzCuOp7d0TNhyphenhyphenhraQcoR062BB1Zh2Y5FkcNy48OFF_9WsXQxU111FFj4h2fCxsHLb-jFE_dI-6RwNLUWX4wZrW7qFu1N-P3PjVBHBQ/s1600-h/gradeA.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 50px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnY8TUdPhmcyZEEtbx7npo0zjhujxJt4nP8SShFkzCuOp7d0TNhyphenhyphenhraQcoR062BB1Zh2Y5FkcNy48OFF_9WsXQxU111FFj4h2fCxsHLb-jFE_dI-6RwNLUWX4wZrW7qFu1N-P3PjVBHBQ/s200/gradeA.jpg" alt="Grade A" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367348360749042626" border="0" /></a>7. Do you make good grades?<br />Yes, I am usually an A student. I'm trying to finish a B.S. right now and hope to be accepted into graduate school within the next year.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAnai30I4c12MeRWYCunwKCeiCdB-L9yOW4HomX2OiFw9Vx0K0z1AUqetH1tkqzdBx2og-Kb9_j0q1jhdjbEcqf-utNEVcWy5MoaLGafLGXI-ohxDCNaEx2l14uVXpppCOpOX-45tyvVM/s1600-h/turquoise.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAnai30I4c12MeRWYCunwKCeiCdB-L9yOW4HomX2OiFw9Vx0K0z1AUqetH1tkqzdBx2og-Kb9_j0q1jhdjbEcqf-utNEVcWy5MoaLGafLGXI-ohxDCNaEx2l14uVXpppCOpOX-45tyvVM/s200/turquoise.jpg" alt="Turquoise" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367348829832121714" border="0" /></a>8. What are you favorite colors?<br />Any shade of turquoise or teal and black. I also like red and blue. I'm really big into color so it's hard to choose one or two colors.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS3ggVvIWfms4l_Q99pUUeyWvbg2Rm-FDsTnjLkuN-ZrB2W5ZDO0ukXQatG-K7sgygGapovbX-_NW9RhTZvysBssSM_xgHoviYaynqlDrcXEq_ElL0sLMer3z91S2ptpOmyCue6aABPP4/s1600-h/redbull.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 20px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS3ggVvIWfms4l_Q99pUUeyWvbg2Rm-FDsTnjLkuN-ZrB2W5ZDO0ukXQatG-K7sgygGapovbX-_NW9RhTZvysBssSM_xgHoviYaynqlDrcXEq_ElL0sLMer3z91S2ptpOmyCue6aABPP4/s200/redbull.jpg" alt="Red Bull" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367348883681689394" border="0" /></a>9. Do you drink energy drinks?<br />Absolutely not! They're horrible for the kidneys. Even the ones that are primarily B vitamins, people don't realize that certain kinds of B vitamins will pass the excess through your body but others can have excess that build up and negatively effect your health.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4f84MMUkVIQt2HKYBZEXhi9qdYRbfRHE_yOdMjwRH5cNnctnzbVNyHTj8nVoPnq2lyJcIzaKxEFF3ZeaAxEcRv8BtAmxALAA_gHt0M8l-puJKTxb3Kb4GJ2_S2A6QJCdW-iKXoOfPfos/s1600-h/grapefruitjuice.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 60px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4f84MMUkVIQt2HKYBZEXhi9qdYRbfRHE_yOdMjwRH5cNnctnzbVNyHTj8nVoPnq2lyJcIzaKxEFF3ZeaAxEcRv8BtAmxALAA_gHt0M8l-puJKTxb3Kb4GJ2_S2A6QJCdW-iKXoOfPfos/s200/grapefruitjuice.jpg" alt="Grapefruit Juice" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367348942025419746" border="0" /></a>10. Do you drink juice?<br />Yes, I love juice. I usually drink 100% juice not the 10% "juice" drinks. Grapefruit is my favorite but I like all kinds.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDr4R6v9EBdN-lfYMdbdd1BqXVlha1OS5DwRcgvdp5Gr3tnayAsPwUrS4Eoh4uBWQzOcsWC_9zOFwkyX1Y3v3hLat2sycVcQ3iyw8lEQ8ahxxNlNyJKo0g55lY1dLfScUA7syO2j8nMZA/s1600-h/pool.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 60px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDr4R6v9EBdN-lfYMdbdd1BqXVlha1OS5DwRcgvdp5Gr3tnayAsPwUrS4Eoh4uBWQzOcsWC_9zOFwkyX1Y3v3hLat2sycVcQ3iyw8lEQ8ahxxNlNyJKo0g55lY1dLfScUA7syO2j8nMZA/s200/pool.jpg" alt="Pool" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367349004982177858" border="0" /></a>11. Do you like swimming?<br />It's okay, I don't like cold water and used to be a competitive swimmer for a long time so it's lost a lot of its fun factor.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMlNXxWPSQ1s_h-1KOU_SwGSsa0zdtqs0J9xLkpPlAnolFcURuuOKQsW2r80S-rX0YTGsjJYDwy7lAbvqofJAKmEskdq1dYvEjbaiym6RyGsbHpD4WRg_V2ty5AMQJqTZcqpYeRN3WSck/s1600-h/fries.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 75px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMlNXxWPSQ1s_h-1KOU_SwGSsa0zdtqs0J9xLkpPlAnolFcURuuOKQsW2r80S-rX0YTGsjJYDwy7lAbvqofJAKmEskdq1dYvEjbaiym6RyGsbHpD4WRg_V2ty5AMQJqTZcqpYeRN3WSck/s200/fries.jpg" alt="Fries" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367349057857737874" border="0" /></a>12. Do you eat fries with a fork?<br />I'm all fingers... I like licking the salt off of my fingers too, I'm a total saltaholic. I'm trying to cut down but it's hard!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4-MndrotHm5TblGdYv-DFXdGIfchACg2lwYaBmXbnZc8l_rEPPSKt9E5sQSQAkIT8II-LArLINmQ3yAVEaU4XwNswRN8ktaF2dMzB0walkJMaA20FkCnuQY94snsuUPHe8lEWqI2IIKE/s1600-h/olayalldaymoisturizer.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 30px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4-MndrotHm5TblGdYv-DFXdGIfchACg2lwYaBmXbnZc8l_rEPPSKt9E5sQSQAkIT8II-LArLINmQ3yAVEaU4XwNswRN8ktaF2dMzB0walkJMaA20FkCnuQY94snsuUPHe8lEWqI2IIKE/s200/olayalldaymoisturizer.jpg" alt="Olay All Day Complete Moisturizer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367349128511898258" border="0" /></a>13. Favorite moisturizer?<br />Olay all day complete for sensitive skin. It's the only moisturizer I can use without breaking out. I have a <a href="http://makeup-101.blogspot.com/2009/06/all-about-moisturizer.html">blog post</a> about moisturizer.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0PFNGZbsu3aM66sxF2Aid_v-WDftZZGbPwr0v4vYodoeb99LyrAatYgsz4IGlSzqcv_w0JXtIcSU7MhlID-aMZVAV9BYw3zzLNKu1PtFH_rqK2R_50RTRm9rbyTIU7TvzCm9uUQRRAg8/s1600-h/weddingrings.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 60px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0PFNGZbsu3aM66sxF2Aid_v-WDftZZGbPwr0v4vYodoeb99LyrAatYgsz4IGlSzqcv_w0JXtIcSU7MhlID-aMZVAV9BYw3zzLNKu1PtFH_rqK2R_50RTRm9rbyTIU7TvzCm9uUQRRAg8/s200/weddingrings.jpg" alt="Wedding Rings" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367349192772317778" border="0" /></a>14. Do you want to get married later on in life?<br />Later on? How about now ;) I'm not too young to get married.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7atSrFanMWgb5nBb1V_2u0wdzy2rXo3Gq5wQIR3Hp8jtyEVVV07o8QsNXDml0EHd_pyOh6cPt3eufZoXdMvC5qb_qPnT7WZRzK56mLIjlIHDpauDI1z_a1n8Ge_jUzJ0dkrT5haC65Fk/s1600-h/angrycat.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 30px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7atSrFanMWgb5nBb1V_2u0wdzy2rXo3Gq5wQIR3Hp8jtyEVVV07o8QsNXDml0EHd_pyOh6cPt3eufZoXdMvC5qb_qPnT7WZRzK56mLIjlIHDpauDI1z_a1n8Ge_jUzJ0dkrT5haC65Fk/s200/angrycat.jpg" alt="Angry Cat" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367349237614630690" border="0" /></a>15. Do you get mad easily?<br />Not anymore... life is too short to spend all of your time being angry about everything. I brush most things off now.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjr6p26BBFDQZ7MSExzjPBCWM8jPE1R2m7kA6CJP71bbJHbnPx1Ew8bunuUu8u-bLlzSZQzqOolZ_alLHObfRWtJS_SqpDGb7mCWMzFWdXNym9gPXxVwyU4nQP3W0_ZW_-YQnGqCf8OVE/s1600-h/ghost.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 30px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjr6p26BBFDQZ7MSExzjPBCWM8jPE1R2m7kA6CJP71bbJHbnPx1Ew8bunuUu8u-bLlzSZQzqOolZ_alLHObfRWtJS_SqpDGb7mCWMzFWdXNym9gPXxVwyU4nQP3W0_ZW_-YQnGqCf8OVE/s200/ghost.jpg" alt="Ghost" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367349305910581970" border="0" /></a>16. Are you into Ghost Hunting?<br />No, but I used to love haunted houses when I was younger. Actual haunted houses, not the theme park types.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqzkwW2jwyNvJBO7cRcCYs_Vv9qDtQJMH0jXx2l7L5-KpndD6CoAglnxbLLszN1G7Bu0payHih9ICcQP6UdLW5W9YGUPyGKg3Vq-awrgG5ebK5x2XQXHQS8X9VvW3z383jRmqnRSfGHXE/s1600-h/stairs.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 30px; height: 50px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqzkwW2jwyNvJBO7cRcCYs_Vv9qDtQJMH0jXx2l7L5-KpndD6CoAglnxbLLszN1G7Bu0payHih9ICcQP6UdLW5W9YGUPyGKg3Vq-awrgG5ebK5x2XQXHQS8X9VvW3z383jRmqnRSfGHXE/s200/stairs.jpg" alt="Steep Stairs" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367349370247017298" border="0" /></a>17. Any phobias?<br />Very steep inclines... I'm not scared of heights, but I'm scared of falling down things like stairs and really steep hills. Just an UpdateI haven't posted anything in a few days, but I have good reasons!<br /><br />First of all, I took the day off Saturday. I mean completely off, I wasn't blogging or emailing or finishing contracts. I went to lunch, the MAC store and a couple other stores with my friend and it was a lot of fun. Okay, I worked a little. I ended up putting all of the eye shadows I depotted Friday night into a MAC palette that I removed the tray from. It fit all 29 eye shadows from the Ulta 52 blockbuster plus 4 coastal scents hot pots. Tutorial on how to depot with pictures coming soon!<br /><br />Sunday I did makeup for a photo shoot for head shots with 2 lovely ladies. One is an up and coming model and the other has experience doing catalog work. They both photographed so well, I will have pictures coming soon.<br /><br />I always have meetings all day Monday, plus I started a forensic psychology class that will last until the middle of August. It is a very interesting class.... disturbing too from the true stories haha. If you don't know what forensic psychology is, it's psychology pertaining to the law which includes evaluating peoples' competence to stand trial, being a therapist in a prison, etc.<br /><br />Unfortunately I'm going to miss the shoot at the studio that I wanted to do today because I'm working in another city, which I'm really bummed about.<br /><br />These are the articles I have coming up:<br /><ul><li>How to depot eyeshadows and place them into palettes</li><li>How to repair broken eyeshadows and blushes</li></ul>Then I will go back to the series of articles all about one specific type of makeup item to build from the foundation up.Mikohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15033723737684153508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1870619277426283646.post-91861288522702981992009-07-10T13:45:00.015-05:002009-07-10T15:40:11.882-05:00Setting PowderSetting powder has many functions: setting makeup so it doesn't come off, mattifying, absorbing oil, as well as others, depending on the product. Many setting powders diffuse the light being reflected off of the products on your face, giving it a more matte or even airbrushed appearance.<br /><br />You should be getting all of your coverage from your foundation and concealer. You should not attempt to get more coverage from your setting powder, it should just give your face a softer look and help the foundation and concealer to stay on longer. The one exception is for those who use mineral makeup over liquid foundation, but you need to have a very light hand when doing this or it will look fake.<br /><br />All liquid and cream foundations need to be set because if they aren't, they can melt off of your face as it's combined with oil and heated. Setting powder can also be used on top of mineral foundations to soften the appearance. The same rule about liquids and creams apply to other products like eyeliner and cream eyeshadows - they always need to be set with powder. This article is about setting foundation.<br /><br />If you need a full description of the application tools, please see the previous foundation articles.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Types of Setting Powder</span><br /><ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz8oaFDeq6adlxQiH-bBoyEdQDmAFzF1hyphenhyphen_7Ww5unHO4UExCeWGunRRe36fVSqQzPig3i36ITFDzLRVEWph-_a9VhwvNaH7aLqZhxaohgTgiO_uudUb9jwH6kSgNL9PuxgtltrgCFjvCM/s1600-h/lauramercierloosepowder2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz8oaFDeq6adlxQiH-bBoyEdQDmAFzF1hyphenhyphen_7Ww5unHO4UExCeWGunRRe36fVSqQzPig3i36ITFDzLRVEWph-_a9VhwvNaH7aLqZhxaohgTgiO_uudUb9jwH6kSgNL9PuxgtltrgCFjvCM/s200/lauramercierloosepowder2.jpg" alt="Loose Powder - Laura Mercier" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356923555527245826" border="0" /></a><li>Loose - This is powder that comes in a jar and isn't pressed or packed in any way. Loose powder may come in colors, translucent or transparent. Colored or translucent powders usually contain talc and other traditional ingredients. Transparent powders are usually silica based. If you have an allergy to either of these products, make sure you check the ingredients before purchasing. I use loose setting powder and carry a travel brush with me.<br /><br /></li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLjDxBQoorVW0JrAgWTgS47FX02Vj72yYPYMxfmuUcvAQkzOdi9W9Qeu72Q28D2hTIEPONfQTPdrlpkNsA6KCTNerJIOfSxg28SvMe9ozy8nABD1DbTMwjGenhTgfyyIQ6a_0n5omriBw/s1600-h/macmineralizeskinfinish.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLjDxBQoorVW0JrAgWTgS47FX02Vj72yYPYMxfmuUcvAQkzOdi9W9Qeu72Q28D2hTIEPONfQTPdrlpkNsA6KCTNerJIOfSxg28SvMe9ozy8nABD1DbTMwjGenhTgfyyIQ6a_0n5omriBw/s200/macmineralizeskinfinish.jpg" alt="Pressed Powder - MAC Mineralize Skin Finish" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356923620780866066" border="0" /></a><li>Pressed - This is powder pressed into a compact. It's convenient to keep in a purse or for traveling. It also usually has traditional ingredients, like talc. If you can afford multiple ones, you can throw one of these in your purse, one in your bathroom, anywhere you might need it for touch ups. You can keep a travel brush on you to apply this or some come with a spot to place a puff or round sponge.<br /><br /></li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVRo_ABrL1KQWONcWVwR1idxVcHvhCljNfXcJSg-v8Jak9vDywvwsZ6KwgHP61cxKYYqtrXarmo0V9j8iY5KlPw6xdIUAOV5wYLAqavd6UJgU5O8NzPBUakKU_3QxFavKrZqYpxWeSiTY/s1600-h/mineralveil.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 102px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVRo_ABrL1KQWONcWVwR1idxVcHvhCljNfXcJSg-v8Jak9vDywvwsZ6KwgHP61cxKYYqtrXarmo0V9j8iY5KlPw6xdIUAOV5wYLAqavd6UJgU5O8NzPBUakKU_3QxFavKrZqYpxWeSiTY/s200/mineralveil.jpg" alt="Mineral Setting Powder" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356923654460864770" border="0" /></a><li>Mineral - This is a special loose powder made to use on top of mineral foundation. It is also made of mineral materials. You don't really need to use a setting powder with mineral foundation, but it will diffuse some of the light reflected by the minerals to give your face a softer look. It will also help to absorb more oil. You will need to carry a travel brush to use this one too for touch-ups.<br /></li></ul>You can use any type of setting powder on top of any kind of foundation, feel free to mix and match products if you prefer certain types over others.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Application Methods</span><br /><ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt_20XjgevsSJEKkClNY4pzEhPWNY7yK5hfCj7KJdMCCtWYZNMyJneeg0q0Sozmnps3QIVT13mn5f7qBdFNLAMrVBXvu6b8MHUQC51zfl8Kxpgd9vw7veJpvNwBTsHgtZ1EBPSmMSXbxI/s1600-h/powderbrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 31px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt_20XjgevsSJEKkClNY4pzEhPWNY7yK5hfCj7KJdMCCtWYZNMyJneeg0q0Sozmnps3QIVT13mn5f7qBdFNLAMrVBXvu6b8MHUQC51zfl8Kxpgd9vw7veJpvNwBTsHgtZ1EBPSmMSXbxI/s200/powderbrush.jpg" alt="Power Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356924436444338370" border="0" /></a><li>Powder Brush - This is the most common tool used with setting powder. It gives a light dusting of powder just so it sets the foundation and will absorb the oils. Powder brushes come in several sizes and shapes, but usually they are big, round, and puffy with a longer handle. The larger and rounder the brush, the more evenly dispersed the product will be placed. Work a little powder into the bristles and gently apply it all over your face over foundation. Some set with powder lightly and some work it into the skin. It depends on the products that you are using and how you prefer to apply makeup. I prefer to buff a very light amount of powder into the skin all over. If you just brush the powder across the skin and don't blend it in at all, you can have a chalky look.<br /><br /></li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGt0hmThiKo0rTr87xF3Ohn06S_48iXdTucNx1MrJtm8B0svcgjQv3-q_ya3R8MVJgbhddBUiQcSHNoixwrZpa0HsjgprX2hRCjSICl2j67wBVFlQ0BvQh4VwKWpQyPsnrAmrAP59dvPE/s1600-h/sephorakabuki.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGt0hmThiKo0rTr87xF3Ohn06S_48iXdTucNx1MrJtm8B0svcgjQv3-q_ya3R8MVJgbhddBUiQcSHNoixwrZpa0HsjgprX2hRCjSICl2j67wBVFlQ0BvQh4VwKWpQyPsnrAmrAP59dvPE/s200/sephorakabuki.jpg" alt="Kabuki Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356924487336459442" border="0" /></a><li>Kabuki Brush - Some people use a kabuki brush to set powder. This is especially good for people who want to buff setting powder. They are denser than powder brushes, but not as dense as buffer brushes. Buff the powder into the skin in a circular motion evenly all over the face. The Laura Mercier powder works really well with a kabuki brush. This is a good way to get a natural looking finish instead of having the powder sit on top of the skin.<br /><br /></li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjZdfU5wFHaFVYrazK_KKUv5dxw0HSvukptqQaEhslYmeCKAVxLFUjrgs729W-UxdQcRJFzmVlwQTuRxiHW3jJQRjOnJebi7QFtx-a_S6lRSBo6ALb-G_TVyaaUXE_4NYIl40t-bnnNS8/s1600-h/bufferbrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 43px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjZdfU5wFHaFVYrazK_KKUv5dxw0HSvukptqQaEhslYmeCKAVxLFUjrgs729W-UxdQcRJFzmVlwQTuRxiHW3jJQRjOnJebi7QFtx-a_S6lRSBo6ALb-G_TVyaaUXE_4NYIl40t-bnnNS8/s200/bufferbrush.jpg" alt="Buffer Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356924536522015714" border="0" /></a><li>Buffer Brush - This can be used for serious coverage. Some people use a liquid foundation and a mineral foundation on top as a setting powder for really full coverage. You will apply the powder just as you would apply mineral foundation by buffing it in a circular motion into the skin. Do not buff with pressure over a wet foundation like a cream or liquid that does not dry/set itself at least somewhat or you can smear the makeup off.<br /><br /></li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEWvMPe4D26JIG_vluUjP58nJries-XWGPbMcd7nQOP-kHFR-hfeyCjKs-8YjsciBqjudYrcuR5crLUpSVNeY0ThQUlBi_8oys-LNhRMrSCH91iQM_6XHOETUjjiFbfL_YU2QUm_UmG5M/s1600-h/cosmeticsponge.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 48px; height: 41px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEWvMPe4D26JIG_vluUjP58nJries-XWGPbMcd7nQOP-kHFR-hfeyCjKs-8YjsciBqjudYrcuR5crLUpSVNeY0ThQUlBi_8oys-LNhRMrSCH91iQM_6XHOETUjjiFbfL_YU2QUm_UmG5M/s200/cosmeticsponge.jpg" alt="Cosmetic Sponge" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356926342316427298" border="0" /></a><li>Cosmetic Sponge - Yes, these can be used for powder too. I would recommend using a wedge sponge. To set with a cosmetic sponge, you have to use it dry. Get a little powder on the sponge, you only need a small amount to set foundation. Gently roll the powder onto the skin. You want to use a pressing motion, rolling from one side to another (left to right or vice versa). This will really set the foundation well and prevent shine. </li></ul>You will not want to use flat brushes like a foundation brush because it will apply the powder too thick and you can end up with a cakey or streaked look. I do not like using puffs to apply powder because you will be much more likely to get the cakey look from poor application. If you only use a puff for quick touch ups in your purse that's fine, but a brush is always better.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Recommended Products</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhecuZuwquUSeEnjt5_4HjKtl543csOXzB7BaioVT4L1zxOaKDvh8US07oW-_rnYh6n2b6XHrqcSqCMujkx05e1OG61zidAf6Z5c6tq5wRORR2I6arnqnZTOksO-tqwy3lju7Ef0UpdH8A/s1600-h/lauramerciersettingpowder.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhecuZuwquUSeEnjt5_4HjKtl543csOXzB7BaioVT4L1zxOaKDvh8US07oW-_rnYh6n2b6XHrqcSqCMujkx05e1OG61zidAf6Z5c6tq5wRORR2I6arnqnZTOksO-tqwy3lju7Ef0UpdH8A/s200/lauramerciersettingpowder.jpg" alt="Laura Mercier Loose Powder" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356920852905648322" border="0" /></a>Best Talc/Overall Setting Powder: Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent<br /><ul><li>Creates a soft focus appearance</li><li>Lightweight with sheer coverage</li><li>Absorbs Oil</li><li>French cashmere talc based</li><li>This is what I use on my clients and what I will use myself when I need to purchase new setting powder</li><li>Also comes in beige (warm) if you find the translucent makes your skin too cool toned<br /></li><li>$34/1 oz or $20/0.33 oz at Sephora (1 oz is a huge container)</li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD3sYtH-h3iggE8QBuCUeIHn7AczX67T44Pm2c6vo9uYbdquXGNuTj_lBiPsRXOkaZCufRepRK4EJvuq0qZQPTv2iNm5CvuEYAtnaifLdONaDHw1nNz1lEdX8034kcAcLG5jUDv_o-KOE/s1600-h/baremineralsveil.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD3sYtH-h3iggE8QBuCUeIHn7AczX67T44Pm2c6vo9uYbdquXGNuTj_lBiPsRXOkaZCufRepRK4EJvuq0qZQPTv2iNm5CvuEYAtnaifLdONaDHw1nNz1lEdX8034kcAcLG5jUDv_o-KOE/s200/baremineralsveil.jpg" alt="Bare Minerals Mineral Veil" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356920908186786290" border="0" /></a>Best Mineral Setting Powder (Overall #2): Bare Minerals Mineral Veil (Original Formula)<br /><ul><li>All natural minerals - talc, silica, paraben, sulfate, fragrance, and dye free<br /></li><li>Sheer coverage</li><li>Oil absorbing</li><li>Comes in 4 formulations, however I only recommend the regular mineral veil</li><li>I currently use this, but will be using Laura Mercier when I run out<br /></li><li>$19 / 0.47 oz at Sephora, Ulta, or Bare Escentuals<br /></li></ul> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiYC0a4K8-olTvbWHwEkHVLyzHgZraqo-ZwAWI1CFfmJb7ggVF8gY2di6_P2FxCEAjqIxEg922EmqTFc8cOtf03WQzroyWAxYp-1tUeKX4pS98PCheVR1yJlgPYkRDmcEwg15L7sqrc_I/s1600-h/mufehdpowder.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiYC0a4K8-olTvbWHwEkHVLyzHgZraqo-ZwAWI1CFfmJb7ggVF8gY2di6_P2FxCEAjqIxEg922EmqTFc8cOtf03WQzroyWAxYp-1tUeKX4pS98PCheVR1yJlgPYkRDmcEwg15L7sqrc_I/s200/mufehdpowder.jpg" alt="Make Up For Ever HD Powder" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356920951272013074" border="0" /></a>Best Silica Setting Powder: Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder<br /><ul><li>100% mineral silica powder</li><li>Slightly mattifying</li><li>Does not dry out skin</li><li>Completely translucent</li><li>Used by professional makeup artists for TV, movies and photo shoots<br /></li><li>$30 / 0.35 oz at Sephora</li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkgHjBW7v1r-bEnIHRidFG63zDHJZRtKbKTrGGT4hHuVPDiNA465_DK353BIUdBV9oEKVubzf-mKhIwF_Vs8I0n3C8TEM3V-Yhl172kp-wbrlGH2ilOb4F2vc3N_J9r88XbCpADi-wJ20/s1600-h/macsetpowder.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 115px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkgHjBW7v1r-bEnIHRidFG63zDHJZRtKbKTrGGT4hHuVPDiNA465_DK353BIUdBV9oEKVubzf-mKhIwF_Vs8I0n3C8TEM3V-Yhl172kp-wbrlGH2ilOb4F2vc3N_J9r88XbCpADi-wJ20/s200/macsetpowder.jpg" alt="MAC Set Powder" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356920989846846274" border="0" /></a>Industry Standard: MAC Cosmetics Powder<br />I didn't specify a particular kind because they have all kinds that are used:<br /><ul><li>Select Sheer / Pressed</li><li>Select Sheer / Loose</li><li>Mineralize Skin Finish</li><li>Mineralize Skin Finish / Natural</li><li>The most common MAC setting powder used by professionals is Invisible Set Powder, but it's only available at Pro stores or ordered online with a MAC PRO card (you need to be a professional in the industry to get this card)</li></ul>These are all quite expensive. I will include these to try next time I have an order to place.Mikohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15033723737684153508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1870619277426283646.post-5473795696400008372009-07-06T16:07:00.011-05:002009-07-07T12:35:08.318-05:00ConcealerConcealer is used to cover imperfections, such as blemishes and discolorations that cannot be covered by foundation. You may apply concealer before or after foundation, however it's recommended to apply it afterward because you will need to use less concealer once the foundation covers what it will and you could smear the concealer off while applying the foundation.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu_D9n6Z0kzz1ZMUERP-Ra5ykgo1v3bL1p4gCOWv39ms1McUMsGVE2Z0HpXP_cD6GK73wepgUviciG-dDDEen_Ncr70id8x6-eV4708Dv5MeHmKZq5gZNW-iROF3LEvyxD9XWvIdn0nvw/s1600-h/katvondconcealer.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu_D9n6Z0kzz1ZMUERP-Ra5ykgo1v3bL1p4gCOWv39ms1McUMsGVE2Z0HpXP_cD6GK73wepgUviciG-dDDEen_Ncr70id8x6-eV4708Dv5MeHmKZq5gZNW-iROF3LEvyxD9XWvIdn0nvw/s200/katvondconcealer.jpg" alt="Kat Von D Concealer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355469004757334914" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Liquid Concealer</span><br />This may come in a tube with or without an applicator. If it comes in a tube without an applicator, you can use your ring finger or a concealer brush to apply it. It may already come in the form of a pen or with a doe foot applicator like lip gloss. Liquid concealers are easy to blend into the skin as well as foundation. Blending concealer out with a wet sponge is the best method in my opinion. Some liquid foundations specify that they need to be applied before foundation.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsy_bBdt_lbv2tFPhuTVfWiySIjJJK7uPILHaIu5UJEUZLv3M1m3lqaXnEqo_V8wPcgbY6vLsTi7QoynsM5gGQnzD5Sv3A9WxSOTV_yQO3qyn9D564_NLHsqwIRkUAZNlhREougQQDq8o/s1600-h/macstudiofinishconcealer.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsy_bBdt_lbv2tFPhuTVfWiySIjJJK7uPILHaIu5UJEUZLv3M1m3lqaXnEqo_V8wPcgbY6vLsTi7QoynsM5gGQnzD5Sv3A9WxSOTV_yQO3qyn9D564_NLHsqwIRkUAZNlhREougQQDq8o/s200/macstudiofinishconcealer.jpg" alt="MAC Studio Finish Concealer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355469053615346914" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cream or Stick Concealer</span><br />Cream concealer may come in a pot or as a stick. If it comes in stick form, you may be able to apply it directly to the skin and blend it out with either your ring finger or a concealer brush. Cream concealers in a pot will require a concealer brush. While you may be able to stick your finger in there and rub it on, you have the potential of contaminating the makeup with bacteria from your hands. Yellow concealers were made to counteract what was thought to be a purple color to the skin, but the color is actually blue. You will end up with green under your eyes because yellow + blue = green. This is why yellow concealers do not work as well. A "salmon" or orange concealer is the best to use for blue under eye circles. These concealers are usually in cream form. Any mineral concealer can be used under the eyes and they do make salmon colored under eye concealers as well.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Suggested Products</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz63aN3F5tBmx3bLlewtzMjr3J3Nwa2CNZ6958vqF88rgk7MovXe1e3IWkW6llZsI37kDODb9cKyQvJVFe6kTsR3mEvHDiGhSOQmnKCLVy1Wn2WTWoKpbDPjOmeHh51kS9ZsdbklmU7qo/s1600-h/evepearlsalmonconcealer.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; There have more brands of mineral foundations to count these days and you can even make your own! The benefit to mineral foundations are that they let the skin breathe and do not cause breakouts in people who are acne prone. I suffered from cystic acne for many years and mineral foundation was the only kind that I could use without breaking out. I like to wear mineral foundation for the no-makeup makeup look with a little SPF protection when I'll be outside during the summer.<br /><br />They usually only contain 3-6 ingredients that are all natural. They should not contain talc, oil, fragrances or preservatives. If you have a sensitivity to titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, iron oxide, mica, bismuth oxychloride or ultramarines make sure you check the ingredients before using them. Different brands use a different combination of these ingredients.<br /><br />Mineral foundations can also be used as mineral concealers, although separate mineral concealers exist. Both synthetic and natural bristle brushes can be used with powder foundations.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Application Methods</span><br /><ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWtJUZLiHkIqhyphenhyphenf480zniPdXluGFa262we6VzqQ6BG7c3Ja54S9y-stp53hHkuve12cOlAKp-Xu2-vINN9SFuOl-HNvO5qWE9T3yt6YxeaaJZcj7yFFpaEIyXz8DG0hEBVGUmkSbsj1qk/s1600-h/sephorakabuki.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWtJUZLiHkIqhyphenhyphenf480zniPdXluGFa262we6VzqQ6BG7c3Ja54S9y-stp53hHkuve12cOlAKp-Xu2-vINN9SFuOl-HNvO5qWE9T3yt6YxeaaJZcj7yFFpaEIyXz8DG0hEBVGUmkSbsj1qk/s200/sephorakabuki.jpg" alt="Kabuki Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355452588382228866" border="0" /></a><li>Kabuki Brush - As previously mentioned several times, this will give you medium coverage. Swirl the brush on the powder to pick up powder and work it into the depths of the bristles. Tap off the excess powder, most of it should be within the bristles, not sitting on top. Buff the powder into the skin with the brush in a circular motion. These can be purchased at stores like Sephora and Ulta. This will give you full coverage. When I don't have the room to carry a buffer brush, I like to use the foundation brush in my Posh travel brush set to apply mineral foundation. The denser the foundation brush is, the more even and full coverage it will apply.<br /><br /></li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU-m4pfDleqV8jbrpBFpwDhhhKV4YUtJq98KGf3oTH1Zf6T-NTA4THTSiKbErrat_-jyq692WVbehLWgdrjPb0_wxFe2YvosxWn_5Hn5rX91iVXInYE9XxF3lJX4Tj8u0DdMcFgmZltOs/s1600-h/puffjar.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 125px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU-m4pfDleqV8jbrpBFpwDhhhKV4YUtJq98KGf3oTH1Zf6T-NTA4THTSiKbErrat_-jyq692WVbehLWgdrjPb0_wxFe2YvosxWn_5Hn5rX91iVXInYE9XxF3lJX4Tj8u0DdMcFgmZltOs/s200/puffjar.jpg" alt="Puff Jar" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355453134576078178" border="0" /></a><li>Self Dispensing Puff or Brush - These are really interesting inventions. You place the product into a little jar or brush handle and it makes its way out through a hole in the middle of the puff or brush and then onto your skin. Coverage is really at the mercy of the size of the hole and how many times you want to try to apply the product. I bought one so that I wouldn't have to carry a brush on me, but I found it be a lot more work and if you clean the puff regularly, you will lose a lot of product. If you don't clean the puff, you will have a bacteria filled applicator. Novel idea, but for practical use I wouldn't recommend these.<br /></li></ul><span style="font-weight: bold;">Suggested Products</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv4nlHSKYYPeNUhdqaUHRTfQ2dumTiF1ZlVbhU9zx66pXJVGrB7RsDmCvVEVy53w7cR2ZEoLM1huvwFrfwkGGXT4uMXo1Fn8x_V91DTaqrMHBe6EvystdXB1Zm2ZnymjjhHiFCFK1l28I/s1600-h/everydayminerals.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv4nlHSKYYPeNUhdqaUHRTfQ2dumTiF1ZlVbhU9zx66pXJVGrB7RsDmCvVEVy53w7cR2ZEoLM1huvwFrfwkGGXT4uMXo1Fn8x_V91DTaqrMHBe6EvystdXB1Zm2ZnymjjhHiFCFK1l28I/s200/everydayminerals.jpg" alt="Everyday Minerals" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355453659384213794" border="0" /></a>Best Mineral Foundation for Oily Skin: Everyday Minerals Foundation in Semi-Matte or Matte<br /><ul><li>Comes in 4 different formulas (semi-matte, matte, intensive and glo)<br /></li><li>Does not contain bismuth oxychloride, the ingredient that can make other mineral foundations creamy and overly shiny.<br /></li><li>Comes in 44 different shades</li><li>Get a free sample of 3 foundation colors, 1 concealer and 1 blush for the cost of shipping</li><li>Natural SPF 15<br /></li><li>My favorite mineral foundation</li><li>$2.50 (5ml) - $12 (25ml) at <a href="http://www.everydayminerals.com/">everydayminerals.com</a></li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ9ohfi4V7a59O1MO0jEyL-k0X-tH0vkapRpiwh4j6KWTch6kgzFjfVl7DhfnGBRn7LO2Pn9Z-uNsbKTr-76e4TxdnoULF0wzuze0kh58nvlSC7M1o6NKh-AHQrnZIn231IZg_duTuna0/s1600-h/bareminerals.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 105px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ9ohfi4V7a59O1MO0jEyL-k0X-tH0vkapRpiwh4j6KWTch6kgzFjfVl7DhfnGBRn7LO2Pn9Z-uNsbKTr-76e4TxdnoULF0wzuze0kh58nvlSC7M1o6NKh-AHQrnZIn231IZg_duTuna0/s200/bareminerals.jpg" alt="Bare Minerals" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355453693169199922" border="0" /></a>Best Mineral Foundation for Dry, Dull Skin: Bare Minerals Foundation<br /><ul><li>Creamy consistency</li><li>Gives skin a natural glow</li><li>Comes in 15 shades</li><li>$25 / 0.3 oz at Sephora, Ulta or Bare Escentuals</li><li>Starter kits are also available for $60<br /></li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr-YdkA3oahGoYOioglBB_8V7fw2B9bDSVd0-41SCpkSCyB047lJ3ugTZ_NwYzXDirr9OpNN2Czco0VjDm4ooJyruDZ8bEzhJ9vzsmdP7Mw3YhTYVWye9bAwxkkPhFpzPssctmTsKDSco/s1600-h/maybellinemineralpower.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr-YdkA3oahGoYOioglBB_8V7fw2B9bDSVd0-41SCpkSCyB047lJ3ugTZ_NwYzXDirr9OpNN2Czco0VjDm4ooJyruDZ8bEzhJ9vzsmdP7Mw3YhTYVWye9bAwxkkPhFpzPssctmTsKDSco/s200/maybellinemineralpower.jpg" alt="Maybelline Mineral Power" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355453731493768402" border="0" /></a>Best Drug Store Mineral Foundation: Maybelline Mineral Power Powder Foundation<br /><ul><li>An alternative if you can't order Everyday Minerals online or need something less expensive</li><li>Talc, oil, fragrance and preservative free</li><li>Comes with a small kabuki brush</li><li>Comes in 8 colors<br /></li><li>Warning: Description claims it contains no fillers, however the ingredients list includes some traditional chemical ingredients<br /></li><li>$10 / 0.28 oz at most drug stores or Ulta<br /></li></ul>Mikohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15033723737684153508noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1870619277426283646.post-41816433710310438342009-07-06T14:03:00.011-05:002009-07-06T16:06:36.124-05:00Pressed Powder FoundationPressed powder foundations come in compacts and are meant to be applied dry. They give more coverage than regular pressed powder that you would apply on top of another form of foundation or that you would use to touch-up shine.<br /><br />Depending on the application method, product, and amount of product used, you can get sheer to full coverage. If applied incorrectly, pressed powder foundation can appear cakey or chalky.<br /><br />This is a good option for traveling because on air planes because you will not have to choose either to put it in a checked bag or in the mere 1 quart bag of liquid products you can take in your carry on. It is also less messy and more compact than the other foundations for traveling in general. If you do travel with this and are worried about it possibly breaking, place a small piece of foam cut to size inside the lid and wrap the outside in foam as well.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Application Methods</span><br /><ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7FIebMStnhfTfU7FewBgj31XqgSqwm4gI8AtpOdMbV1iNBWviMqUgh5UmstNZtTT-LMlDFfOvC82cN9VehjdbpAB4kqTTYWWN0ed6wobqLN15D3JJ9e674Po3josU1M2aHb3nsHqvu0I/s1600-h/sephorakabuki.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7FIebMStnhfTfU7FewBgj31XqgSqwm4gI8AtpOdMbV1iNBWviMqUgh5UmstNZtTT-LMlDFfOvC82cN9VehjdbpAB4kqTTYWWN0ed6wobqLN15D3JJ9e674Po3josU1M2aHb3nsHqvu0I/s200/sephorakabuki.jpg" alt="Kabuki Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355437606094005426" border="0" /></a><li>Kabuki Brush - This brush will give you medium, even coverage. Swirl the brush on the powder to pick up powder and work it into the depths of the bristles. If it only sits right on top of the brush, you could end up with a chalky blob where you first set the brush down on your face. You can always blend out your mistakes with this brush, but it's better to not have mistakes in the first place. Tap off the excess powder, most of it should be within the bristles, not sitting on top. Buff the powder into the skin with the brush in a circular motion. You can build coverage this way. These can be purchased at stores like Sephora and Ulta. Now, I'm not saying they're all hidden treasures, but select items for myself are keepers. Here is a break down of all the products that I am familiar with. The first reviews may leave a bad impression, but read on, I really do like some of their products!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Eyes</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zHnsMVtI/AAAAAAAABSg/ZsdUrOT48sU/s1600-h/elfeyelinerpen.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 22px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zHnsMVtI/AAAAAAAABSg/ZsdUrOT48sU/s200/elfeyelinerpen.jpg" alt="ELF Eyeliner Pen" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354343581740717778" border="0" /></a><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Waterproof Eyeliner Pen</span> - This is great... for 1 day and then dries out. I went through 2 within a week because they dried out so quickly. I believe it's due to the flimsy cap. If they fixed the design flaw, it would be by favorite eyeliner. If I were in an emergency and this happened to be in the first drug store I stopped at, I would definitely use it because it is a great liquid eyeliner and it does last on your skin. $1 a use can get more expensive than the pricey brands though.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zJhnrQtI/AAAAAAAABSo/pMiZvT-XAdU/s1600-h/elfliquideyeliner.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 21px; height: 100px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zJhnrQtI/AAAAAAAABSo/pMiZvT-XAdU/s200/elfliquideyeliner.jpg" alt="ELF Liquid Eyeliner" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354343614470898386" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Liquid Eyeliner</span> - This liner has a bad rap for smelling really bad. That is why I haven't even tried it. A lot of people claim it is a high quality liner, but if you can't get past the smell (which most people can't) you may want to steer clear. I've heard it smells like chemicals and that really concerned people when the ELF line first came out. On myself, I use Rimmel London Professional Liquid Eyeliner that runs about $6 at Walmart.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zMJ_PsdI/AAAAAAAABSw/oWxMQXfAElY/s1600-h/elfmascaraduo.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 148px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zMJ_PsdI/AAAAAAAABSw/oWxMQXfAElY/s200/elfmascaraduo.jpg" alt="ELF Mascara Duo" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354343659666911698" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Earth and Water Mascara Duo</span> - This is two-sided mascara where one side is waterproof and the other side is non-waterproof. I don't really have much to say about this. I would only recommend using this if you can't afford the $3.50-5 pricetag of Maybelline Great Lash or for some reason you really do need both regular and waterproof and just simply don't have room for 2 bottles of mascara.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zRYZRhLI/AAAAAAAABS4/HAuCyK1vSTM/s1600-h/elflashbrowmascara.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 75px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zRYZRhLI/AAAAAAAABS4/HAuCyK1vSTM/s200/elflashbrowmascara.jpg" alt="ELF Lash and Brow Mascara" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354343749433525426" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Wet Gloss Lash and Brow Clear Mascara</span> - I didn't find that this product worked for me at all. My eyebrows did not stay in place at all, I don't think any product was even dispensed on the spool. Maybe I saw a little bit of a glossy finish on my lashes, but it could have just been hope. Again, I would go with Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara and Maybelline Define-A-Brow Gel instead if I could afford it.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zU2znE6I/AAAAAAAABTA/vyGfmvk65pc/s1600-h/elfbrighteningeyeliner.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zU2znE6I/AAAAAAAABTA/vyGfmvk65pc/s200/elfbrighteningeyeliner.jpg" alt="ELF Brightening Eyeliner" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354343809136661410" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Brightening Eye Liner</span> - One word... OW! This pencil was so dry it hurt to attempt to use it. I read that if you sharpened it, it would become easier to apply and would stop tugging. It didn't help at all. I ordered it in Gilded (Gold) because I couldn't find another gold eyeliner. I'm keeping it just because I may need gold eyeliner some day, but I don't plan on using it unless I'm going for a specific gold look.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zXIqNKkI/AAAAAAAABTI/52dX8IeNh_Q/s1600-h/elfbrighteningeyecolor.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 125px; height: 100px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zXIqNKkI/AAAAAAAABTI/52dX8IeNh_Q/s200/elfbrighteningeyecolor.jpg" alt="ELF Brightening Eye Color" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354343848288791106" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Brightening Eye Color</span> - I do like this eyeshadow. It's not as long lasting as say Too Faced or other eye shadows that will set you back $20 a piece, but use it over Urban Decay Primer Potion ($17 - that's just what I happened to use) and the ELF Duo Eyeshadow Cream ($1) as bases and it will stay true for a good 6-8 hours. This is totally worth $1. These quads are available in 14 combinations now, so this is all you may need!<br /></div></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zadmJ76I/AAAAAAAABTQ/-uMcPE4YQ_c/s1600-h/elfduoeyeshadowcream.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zadmJ76I/AAAAAAAABTQ/-uMcPE4YQ_c/s200/elfduoeyeshadowcream.jpg" alt="ELF Duo Eyeshadow Cream" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354343905448554402" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Duo Eyeshadow Cream</span> - Cream shadows should never be used alone because it will crease and smear, so I tested this under the Brightening Eye Color eyeshadow. For the first 4 hours, I couldn't even tell a difference between the eye with and without primer. I saw barely any creasing, I really had to look hard to even see it. I have unusually oily lids, so for someone with normal lids you may not even need an additional primer and you can just use this under your eyeshadow. These remind me of paint pots. This is a great deal, it is a good sized product and you get 2 cream shadow bases for just $1!<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Eye Widener</span> - I will not be trying this product because of reviews that it's dry and clumpy, just like the brightening eye liner.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zfsnW9qI/AAAAAAAABTg/hhG07nlkVw8/s1600-h/elfmakeupremoverpads.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 105px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zfsnW9qI/AAAAAAAABTg/hhG07nlkVw8/s200/elfmakeupremoverpads.jpg" alt="ELF Makeup Remover Pads" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354343995379480226" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Eye Makeup Remover Pads</span> - I could see myself getting these if I'm traveling to carry with me if I don't have much room. It takes several pads to remove makeup properly. They do dry out quickly and only contain 18 pads, so if you plan on traveling for more than a few days or want a similar higher quality product I would suggest Almay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover Pads (in the screw-top canister) 80/$5 at drug stores<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zwjzualI/AAAAAAAABTo/kvL0zFckj90/s1600-h/elfeyeshadowduo.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 105px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5zwjzualI/AAAAAAAABTo/kvL0zFckj90/s200/elfeyeshadowduo.jpg" alt="ELF Duo Eye Shadow" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354344285073205842" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Duo Eyeshadow</span> - I have not tried this product yet, but want to because they are the matching eyeshadow colors to the Duo Eyeshadow Cream. As I said before, you never want to use a cream eyeshadow by itself so if you really like the color of the cream shadow and want to maintain that exact color, pat this eyeshadow on top. I wanted to try a lip plumper without paying a high price and then hating it. This lip plumper works well for $1 and has very pretty colors. I don't like the feeling of lip plumpers, but I knew from the beginning that I wouldn't. If you just need something really cheap for a short photo shoot or something, these will work.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Hypershine Gloss</span> - I have not tried this product because I didn't really like the luscious liquid lipstick and they seem like basically the same product, they even come in the same dispenser.<br /></div></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Face<br /><br /></span><div style="text-align: left;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5z_DQFDTI/AAAAAAAABUQ/wqAK-VJ5CRY/s1600-h/elfallovercolorstick.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 67px; height: 100px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5z_DQFDTI/AAAAAAAABUQ/wqAK-VJ5CRY/s200/elfallovercolorstick.jpg" alt="ELF All Over Color Stick" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354344534031797554" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">All Over Color Stick</span> - I absolutely love this product. There are 2 bronzing shades (Sun Kissed and Warm Tan), 1 bronzing/contouring shade (Matte Bronze) and 1 highlighting shade (Luminance). I'm keeping it in daily my makeup bag and using it over foundation, even though I can't really see it. If I wear it on my bare skin it's a little irritating. I'm kind of up in the air on this because Sun Kissed really doesn't do anything for me, but I will have to try Luminance and Matte Bronze before making a final decision.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Custom Palettes</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50PTseqnI/AAAAAAAABUo/lULAffEjJE0/s1600-h/elfcompact.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 254px; height: 251px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50PTseqnI/AAAAAAAABUo/lULAffEjJE0/s320/elfcompact.jpg" alt="ELF Compact" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354344813323790962" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Compact</span> - This is a high quality compact that has a mirror, magnetic pot holes and a mini brush that is an eyeshadow sponge on one side and a lip brush on the other. It is very sturdy and I would only use these as a makeup artist for my pots if they didn't have the ELF logo on the front. They have better construction than the MAC 4 x Eyeshadow Palettes. If you just want one compact to take with you that has 2 eyeshadow colors, a blush and lipstick this is perfect for you. It's also great if you want to create your own 4 item makeup palettes.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Custom Eyes</span> - I have the eyeshadow colors in Ivory and Mocha. I do like Mocha, which is a medium bronze shade. It may be too dark for light skin, but I think it's perfect for medium to dark skin. I found Ivory to be much too bright for me, it is a bright stark white. I really wish they had a more natural highlight color like MAC Vanilla or anything off-white that is almost a skin tone. You could create a smokey eye palette using Ivory or Pink Ice and Dusk.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Custom Lips</span> - These are your basic cheap palette lipsticks with decent sheer to medium pigmentation. If you want to use your compact for on the go or emergencies, it's convenient and I would recommend it. If you're looking for something to use at home that will not really need touch-ups or to give you a high fashion luscious lips, you should probably go with something more high end.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Custom Face</span> - Again, these are good for an on the go compact. I found that the color Shy didn't really work as well as I would like with my skin tone, but it only comes in 5 colors so I had to choose one. If you find a color that works really well for you that's great! Also, if you just need an emergency compact in your purse, choose the color that you think would look the best. If you need a really light pink blush, you could try using Custom Eyes Truly Pink.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Brushes and Tools</span><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50ZR0zbQI/AAAAAAAABUw/my-Aw_hRSS0/s1600-h/elffacebrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 22px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50ZR0zbQI/AAAAAAAABUw/my-Aw_hRSS0/s200/elffacebrush.jpg" alt="ELF Total Face Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354344984620526850" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Total Face Brush</span> - I felt this brush in its package at the store. I found it to be too rough for me, but I am very picky about brushes. In fact, I even find the Bare Escentuals brushes that are $30-40 too rough. There is no $1 or even $5 alternative though, so if you have a tight cosmetic budget it's a decent brush. If you are willing to spend more, I would recommend the Posh Blush Brush for $14. This may seem like a huge jump to some of you, but professional brushes from Sephora or MAC will set you back $30-45.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50by2QFJI/AAAAAAAABU4/Opk-yLz7nbM/s1600-h/elfeyeshadowbrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 13px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50by2QFJI/AAAAAAAABU4/Opk-yLz7nbM/s200/elfeyeshadowbrush.jpg" alt="ELF Eyeshadow Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354345027844707474" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />Eye Shadow Brush</span> - This is a nice, dense brush for applying color to the lid. I would say that it is professional quality and recommend it. Some of the other brushes looked more sparse, but this one is solid. It also has consistently cut bristles. I have not tried some of the other brushes because it looks like the bristles are not cut uniformly.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50edamllI/AAAAAAAABVA/z-x8DaA6ktA/s1600-h/elfslanttweezer.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 11px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50edamllI/AAAAAAAABVA/z-x8DaA6ktA/s200/elfslanttweezer.jpg" alt="ELF Slant Tweezers" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354345073631204946" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Slant Tweezer</span> - For $1, any tweezer as long as it closes is worth it in my opinion. I checked them in the store to make sure the two ends close properly and they did. Good enough for me! I use these for all kinds of things besides plucking. If you want serious professional plucking tweezers, you'll have to invest in some Tweezermans for about $15 at Ulta or Sephora.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50hA6vGsI/AAAAAAAABVI/Cj7YA28gLTw/s1600-h/elfshineeraser.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 148px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk50hA6vGsI/AAAAAAAABVI/Cj7YA28gLTw/s200/elfshineeraser.jpg" alt="ELF Shine Eraser" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354345117520960194" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Professional Shine Eraser</span> - This is basically just tissue paper. I do know that the Texas grocery store H-E-B carries it in some of their stores, but they carry limited products. Even with $6.95 shipping, if you're ordering 10 products you're still getting them at $1.70 each so, at least in Texas, it's only 61 cents more than you would pay with tax anyway. It may also be called wet/dry foundation. It is a pressed powder cake in a pan (hence the name pan-cake) that can be applied wet or dry. When applied wet, pan-cake makeup can usually provide more coverage than liquid foundation.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Application Methods: Dry</span><br /><ul><li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5WPQm9Z6I/AAAAAAAABRg/pVFiwh0QY_M/s1600-h/roundcosmeticsponge.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 112px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5WPQm9Z6I/AAAAAAAABRg/pVFiwh0QY_M/s200/roundcosmeticsponge.jpg" alt="Round Cosmetic Sponges" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354311827146500002" border="0" /></a>Cosmetic Sponge - I would recommend using a large, round cosmetic sponge to apply pan cake foundtion, rather than a wedge. Wipe a portion of the top/side of the sponge onto the foundation and apply evenly over the face. You can blend with another edge of the sponge without applying more foundation. Blending should always be done with a wet sponge and gives a more natural looking finish. Sponges should be cleaned with antibacterial soap weekly and discarded monthly. Daily antibacterial brush cleaner spray can also be used to keep them sanitary.<br /><br /></li><li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5WV_zks3I/AAAAAAAABRo/m2F7Wa_Md9s/s1600-h/sephorakabuki.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5WV_zks3I/AAAAAAAABRo/m2F7Wa_Md9s/s200/sephorakabuki.jpg" alt="Kabuki Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354311942895088498" border="0" /></a>Kabuki Brush - This is a brush that is normally used for powdered foundations, especially mineral. It is a round, puffy brush with a stub for a handle. There are also several kabuki brushes with handles now. Swirl the brush onto the powder so that it is deep within the bristles. Tap off the excess and then swirl/buff the powder into the skin. These can be purchased at stores like Sephora and Ulta. For less expensive brushes, see <a href="http://www.coastalscents.com">CoastalScents.com</a> or <a href="http://www.starsmakeuphaven.com">StarsMakeupHaven.com</a>.<br /><br /></li><li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5YBe4aZQI/AAAAAAAABRw/sB30zxR-OzA/s1600-h/bufferbrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 43px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5YBe4aZQI/AAAAAAAABRw/sB30zxR-OzA/s200/bufferbrush.jpg" alt="Buffer Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354313789482886402" border="0" /></a>Buffer Brush - This is a brush that will give you full coverage with powders. It is a round, dense, flat-headed brush with a handle. It is similar to a stippling brush, except a buffer brush is usually constructed entirely of natural hair and it is much denser. Sometimes kabuki brushes are labeled as buffer brushes, so be careful. Use it like you would use a kabuki brush by swirling and buffing. This is my favorite method because of the full coverage it provides. These can also be purchased at stores like Sephora or Ulta. </li></ul><span style="font-weight: bold;">Application Method: Wet</span><br /><ul><li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5WPQm9Z6I/AAAAAAAABRg/pVFiwh0QY_M/s1600-h/roundcosmeticsponge.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 112px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5WPQm9Z6I/AAAAAAAABRg/pVFiwh0QY_M/s200/roundcosmeticsponge.jpg" alt="Round Cosmetic Sponges" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354311827146500002" border="0" /></a>Cosmetic Sponge - Again, I would recommend using a large, round cosmetic sponge to apply pan cake foundtion, rather than a wedge. Wet the sponge - I prefer to keep a small spray bottle of distilled water and spritz it onto the sponge until it's saturated. Wipe it onto the makeup and apply evenly over the face. Blend the foundation with the wet sponge until it is even. Sponges should be cleaned weekly and discarded monthly. Daily antibacterial brush cleaner spray can also be used to keep them sanitary.</li></ul><span style="font-weight: bold;">Suggested Products</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5YK9iUwqI/AAAAAAAABR4/CxzBZY_X9sQ/s1600-h/maxfactorpancake.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5YK9iUwqI/AAAAAAAABR4/CxzBZY_X9sQ/s200/maxfactorpancake.jpg" alt="Max Factor Pan-Cake" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354313952330564258" border="0" /></a>Best for Photography/Film: Max Factor Pan-Cake Makeup<br /><ul><li>Inventor of pan cake makeup</li><li>Matte finish</li><li>Used by movie makeup artists</li><li>Usually used wet, not dry<br /></li><li>$6-8 / 1.7 oz at drug stores</li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5YvplFfHI/AAAAAAAABSA/zf1UcA1DRdY/s1600-h/lauramercierfoundationpowder.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5YvplFfHI/AAAAAAAABSA/zf1UcA1DRdY/s200/lauramercierfoundationpowder.jpg" alt="Laura Mercier Foundation Powder" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354314582628596850" border="0" /></a>Best High End and Travel-Friendly: Laura Mercier Foundation Powder<br /><ul><li>Works well both wet and dry</li><li>Gives soft-focus appearance<br /></li><li>Can be used dry for touch ups over liquid or tinted moisturizer</li><li>Comes with both a puff (for touch-ups) and sponge in compact<br /></li><li>$40 / 0.26 oz at Sephora</li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5YzEWQ21I/AAAAAAAABSI/rEy-VGCqpxY/s1600-h/loracwetdrypowder.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5YzEWQ21I/AAAAAAAABSI/rEy-VGCqpxY/s200/loracwetdrypowder.jpg" alt="Lorac Wet Dry Powder" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354314641353792338" border="0" /></a>Best for Sensitive or Acne-Prone Skin: Lorac Oil Free Wet/Dry Powder Makeup<br /><ul><li>Goes on lightly and lets skin breathe<br /></li><li>Oil free</li><li>Contains vitamins A and E</li><li>Fragrance free</li><li>Apply dry for full coverage and wet for sheer coverage (opposite of usual)</li><li>$36 / 0.35 oz at Sephora</li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5ZFytnKqI/AAAAAAAABSQ/vctIB2aV8zE/s1600-h/sephoramatifyingcompact.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk5ZFytnKqI/AAAAAAAABSQ/vctIB2aV8zE/s200/sephoramatifyingcompact.jpg" alt="Sephora Matifying Compact Foundation" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354314963037399714" border="0" /></a>Best for Skin Color Selection: Sephora Matifying Compact Foundation<br /><ul><li>Lightweight</li><li>Contains Nylon 12 for adherence and longwear</li><li>Comes in 24 warm and cool shades</li><li>Can be used over liquid foundation for a porcelain finish</li><li>$20 / 0.35 oz at Sephora<br /></li></ul>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1870619277426283646.post-87151732474777291982009-07-02T14:31:00.010-05:002009-07-03T10:48:05.640-05:00Cream FoundationCream foundations aren't as commonly talked about in comparison to others these days. The first cream foundation I remember seeing was one that my mother used from BeautiControl. They are great for buildable coverage and can give medium to full coverage normally. For sheer coverage, you can either mix a little moisturizer with it on the back of your hand or on a palette or you can use a wet sponge to draw the product out thinner.<br /><br />Many cream foundations can also be used a concealers. You may want to use one of these as a concealer and use another type of foundation for the rest of your face.<br /><br />I do not recommend cream foundations for oily or acne prone skin, with the exception of the Eve Pearl Dual HD Foundation. It is usually used for normal to dry skin.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Application Method: Potted Creams<br /></span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mQLTGPKI/AAAAAAAABQo/K_ka-wbanio/s1600-h/foundationbrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 23px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mQLTGPKI/AAAAAAAABQo/K_ka-wbanio/s320/foundationbrush.jpg" alt="Foundation Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354259066342751394" border="0" /></a>Step 1: Foundation Brush - This is the only tool that will consistently spread a cream properly and evenly. Foundation brushes come in several sizes and shapes. Synthetic bristles like taklon should be used for cream products.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mSWhyF2I/AAAAAAAABQw/SfO2I3D7jEk/s1600-h/cosmeticsponge.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 92px; height: 83px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mSWhyF2I/AAAAAAAABQw/SfO2I3D7jEk/s320/cosmeticsponge.jpg" alt="Cosmetic Sponge" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354259103716874082" border="0" /></a>Step 2: Wet Sponge - Using a wet sponge to blend the foundation is very important. Wet a cosmetic sponge (I prefer distilled water) and gently pat the foundation into the skin with a rolling motion all over. Do not drag the sponge across your skin unless you intend to reduce the amount of coverage. If you need to blend areas of foundation together, use small strokes so you don't remove much makeup. This will give you a much more natural looking finish.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Application Method: Pan Sticks</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mQLTGPKI/AAAAAAAABQo/K_ka-wbanio/s1600-h/foundationbrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 23px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mQLTGPKI/AAAAAAAABQo/K_ka-wbanio/s320/foundationbrush.jpg" alt="Foundation Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354259066342751394" border="0" /></a>Step 1: Either lightly tap the stick on your skin on the key areas of your cheeks, forehead, nose and chin or use a foundation brush to apply all over the skin.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mSWhyF2I/AAAAAAAABQw/SfO2I3D7jEk/s1600-h/cosmeticsponge.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 92px; height: 83px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mSWhyF2I/AAAAAAAABQw/SfO2I3D7jEk/s320/cosmeticsponge.jpg" alt="Cosmetic Sponge" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354259103716874082" border="0" /></a>Step 2: Wet Sponge - Use a wet sponge to blend the foundation to even coverage. Do not drag the sponge across your skin unless you intend to reduce the amount of coverage. If you need to blend areas of foundation together, use small strokes so you don't remove much makeup. This will give you a much more natural looking finish.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Suggested Products</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mr3eOp1I/AAAAAAAABQ4/_2Oi8yFt5So/s1600-h/lauramercierstickfoundation.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 45px; height: 100px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mr3eOp1I/AAAAAAAABQ4/_2Oi8yFt5So/s320/lauramercierstickfoundation.jpg" alt="Laura Mercier Stick Foundation" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354259542057068370" border="0" /></a>Laura Mercier Stick Foundation<br /><ul><li>Oil free</li><li>Water resistant</li><li>Moisturizes</li><li>Medium Coverage</li><li>Contains SPF 15 - good for everyday use, but not recommended for flash photography</li><li>$40 / 0.33 oz at Sephora<br /></li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4muNPUs5I/AAAAAAAABRA/FaTFmT3miys/s1600-h/maxfactorpanstik.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 60px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4muNPUs5I/AAAAAAAABRA/FaTFmT3miys/s320/maxfactorpanstik.jpg" alt="Max Factor Pan Stik" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354259582259868562" border="0" /></a>Max Factor Pan-Stik<br /><ul><li>Waterproof</li><li>Matte finish<br /></li><li>Inventor of Pan type makeup</li><li>Ultra creamy</li><li>Will be discontinued in the US due to competition in 2010, but will be available in other countries (order online from the UK!) </li><li>$7-8 / 0.5 oz at drug stores or Ulta<br /></li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mwuxfQ3I/AAAAAAAABRI/BcAK6gDjlxQ/s1600-h/mufepanstick.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 60px; height: 100px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mwuxfQ3I/AAAAAAAABRI/BcAK6gDjlxQ/s320/mufepanstick.jpg" alt="Make Up For Ever Pan Stick" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354259625621275506" border="0" /></a>Make Up For Ever Pan Stick<br /><ul><li>One of the best professional cosmetic brands in the world</li><li>Can also be used as a concealer</li><li>Sheer to full coverage based on application</li><li>Recommended for dry and problematic skin</li><li>$30 / 0.7 oz at Sephora<br /></li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mzHM5VMI/AAAAAAAABRQ/_hvhoZWiZdQ/s1600-h/evepearldualhdfoundation.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 79px; height: 100px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sk4mzHM5VMI/AAAAAAAABRQ/_hvhoZWiZdQ/s320/evepearldualhdfoundation.jpg" alt="Eve Pearl Dual HD Foundation" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354259666538419394" border="0" /></a>Eve Pearl Dual HD Foundation<br /><ul><li>This is included for <span style="font-weight: bold;">experienced</span> makeup users</li><li>Contains vitamins, minerals, proteins, peptides and anti-oxidants 500 times stronger than vitamin E</li><li>Safe for acne and other skin problems because it is made to calm and improve skin<br /></li><li>Buildable coverage, requires lots of blending<br /></li><li>Requires skill in matching and blending foundation, if you are on the lighter side of the color you have to layer the darker color under the lighter color with the same stroke (1 tap in dark, 2 in light), if applied improperly it can look orange<br /></li><li>To learn how to apply it, see Eve Pearl's tutorial on YouTube</li><li>I currently use this foundation<br /></li><li>$54 / 0.41 oz at evepearl.com<br /></li></ul>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1870619277426283646.post-13599083576107797872009-06-22T10:23:00.012-05:002009-06-22T11:08:06.170-05:00Liquid FoundationLiquid foundation is a fairly popular product known for giving sheer to medium coverage. Most average users cannot get full coverage with this product because it is not applied properly. Which type of foundation and products to use are personal preference, there is no one single type of foundation that is considered better than others. All foundation should always be set with setting powder.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Application Methods</span><br /><ul><li>Fingers - This method is used by people in a hurry, who do not own tools or do not need much coverage. It usually gives sheer coverage, but can give medium coverage.<br /><br /></li><li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-mJrGDX6I/AAAAAAAABOg/a5Gf7TqEU7s/s1600-h/cosmeticsponge.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 92px; height: 83px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-mJrGDX6I/AAAAAAAABOg/a5Gf7TqEU7s/s200/cosmeticsponge.jpg" alt="Cosmetic Sponge" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350177567456583586" border="0" /></a>Cosmetic Sponge - This method wastes a lot of product because the liquid is absorbed by the sponge. It also gives sheer coverage. If this is your desired look, make sure to wet the sponge before to avoid too much makeup absorption. Wet the sponge well, apply a little makeup to the sponge and wipe it on your face until you have even coverage blended together.<br /><br /></li><li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-mMoIMQHI/AAAAAAAABOo/kM2NDg0dRGE/s1600-h/foundationbrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 25px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-mMoIMQHI/AAAAAAAABOo/kM2NDg0dRGE/s200/foundationbrush.jpg" alt="Foundation Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350177618199855218" border="0" /></a>Foundation Brush - This is a good method for medium to fuller coverage, especially with thicker formulas. Without experience too much product may be applied, it just takes a little practice. This is the most common method used by makeup artists. These brushes can now be found in certain drug stores as consumers are starting to learn more about makeup application. Apply a small amount of foundation to the back of your hand or a palette and work on one area of the face at a time. Get a little product on the brush and brush it onto the skin until you have even coverage and it is blended. You can built foundation this way to fuller coverage, so if the initial application is too sheer don't worry. Just add more product.<br /><br /></li><li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-mPjqZmiI/AAAAAAAABOw/2Dz5dlVSC-w/s1600-h/stipplingbrush.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 31px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-mPjqZmiI/AAAAAAAABOw/2Dz5dlVSC-w/s200/stipplingbrush.jpg" alt="Stippling Brush" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350177668540766754" border="0" /></a>Stippling - A stippling brush is another type of foundation brush that has a blunt end. To use the stippling brush, pour a little liquid foundation onto the back of your hand or a palette. Very lightly tap the ends of the bristles onto the liquid so that there are small drops on the end. Do this very lightly, it is easy to over-apply the foundation. Lightly tap it onto the skin without dragging it or swirling it on the skin. Dab over and over to fill in one area of the face at a time and continue until the entire face is covered. This is also a method where coverage can be built up by layers. This will give an airbrush-like full coverage. If you want to reduce the coverage to medium, swirl the brush after tapping. This is my favorite method.<br /><br /></li><li><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-mSEGfMNI/AAAAAAAABO4/GsxyFapPKfU/s1600-h/airbrushgun.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 140px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-mSEGfMNI/AAAAAAAABO4/GsxyFapPKfU/s200/airbrushgun.jpg" alt="Airbrush Gun" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350177711608246482" border="0" /></a>Airbrush - Any liquid foundation can be mixed with airbrush makeup medium to be used in an airbrush system. Special airbrush foundation is also available in different formulas, just like any other liquid foundation. These systems cost a considerable amount for the average consumer and is normally used by professional makeup artists. It gives full coverage by using only 2-8 drops of foundation for the entire face, will last for over 12 hours, and is water and rub proof.</li></ul><span style="font-weight: bold;">Suggested Products</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-rycHM1rI/AAAAAAAABPA/8IrKXuY0E5M/s1600-h/revlongcolorstayfoundation.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 43px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-rycHM1rI/AAAAAAAABPA/8IrKXuY0E5M/s200/revlongcolorstayfoundation.jpg" alt="Revlon Colorstay Foundation" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350183765367641778" border="0" /></a>Best Long Lasting, Full Coverage Liquid Foundation: Revlon Colorstay with SoftFlex for Combination/Oily Skin<br /><ul><li>Oil free</li><li>Controls oil</li><li>Lasts for 16 hours</li><li>Will not rub off with normal use<br /></li><li>Lightweight with full coverage<br /></li><li>Stippling method is really recommended for this foundation to get an airbrushed look finish with full coverage</li><li>Very little product goes a long way applying this with a stippling brush</li><li>$13 / 1 oz at most drug stores<br /></li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-r03JaigI/AAAAAAAABPI/Ez6pK-Lom4s/s1600-h/lauramercierfoundation.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 42px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-r03JaigI/AAAAAAAABPI/Ez6pK-Lom4s/s200/lauramercierfoundation.jpg" alt="Laura Mercier Foundation" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350183806984423938" border="0" /></a>Best High End Liquid Foundation: Laura Mercier Oil Free or Moisturizing Foundation<br /><ul><li>Blends into the skin for a flawless finish</li><li>Lightweight formula</li><li>Coverage can be built up through layering</li><li>Can be applied evenly with fingers</li><li>Long Wearing</li><li>$41 / 1 oz at department stores<br /></li></ul><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-r5Ym9PDI/AAAAAAAABPQ/QkNPZU_68ZQ/s1600-h/maybellinepuremakeup.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 67px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-r5Ym9PDI/AAAAAAAABPQ/QkNPZU_68ZQ/s200/maybellinepuremakeup.jpg" alt="Maybelline Pure Makeup" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350183884686179378" border="0" /></a>Best Thick Formula for Acne Prone Skin: Maybelline New York Pure Makeup<br /><ul><li>Oil Free</li><li>50% Water</li><li>Non-comedogenic<br /></li><li>Thick formula for those who prefer it<br /></li><li>Can be thinned with moisturizer for a dewy or more sheer look</li><li>$5 / 1 oz at most drug stores or Ulta<br /></li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-r7316kxI/AAAAAAAABPY/P-NI5dJAn14/s1600-h/macstudiofix.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 49px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sj-r7316kxI/AAAAAAAABPY/P-NI5dJAn14/s200/macstudiofix.jpg" alt="MAC Studio Fix" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350183927430157074" border="0" /></a>Industry Standard: MAC Studio Fix<br /><ul><li>Commonly used by professional makeup artists</li><li>Long lasting</li><li>Matte finish</li><li>Oil free</li><li>May cause breakouts in certain individuals<br /></li><li>Contains SPF (cannot be used with flash photography) </li><li>$26 / 1 0z at MAC stores, counters and online<br /></li></ul>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1870619277426283646.post-44102423088096334502009-06-18T21:52:00.010-05:002009-06-25T11:05:20.479-05:00All About Face PrimerPrimer is a product used under foundation for a number of reasons: to make the texture of skin smoother, to create a barrier between the makeup and skin, to control oil, and to keep makeup on longer. Most people do not wear primer on a daily basis. Makeup artists use it so that foundation glides on smoother and it helps to protect sensitive skin. It can also control oil with the right formula and help makeup to stay on when it will be worn for a long time.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjsJdG_lKHI/AAAAAAAABOA/JTdH_hkYbVk/s1600-h/smashboxprimers.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjsJdG_lKHI/AAAAAAAABOA/JTdH_hkYbVk/s200/smashboxprimers.jpg" alt="Smashbox Primers" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348879378130741362" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Smashbox Photo Finish</span><br />This is the most popular and widely used primer. It helps to inhibit the destruction of collagen, and fills in fine lines and pores. It has a really silky texture and dries perfectly matte. A normal (1 oz) bottle will cost $36 at Ulta or Sephora. I suggest getting the travel size (0.5 oz) in a tube for $16. Only a pea sized amount can cover your entire face. Dryer skin may require a little more as it absorbs.<br /><br />There are different varieties of this primer:<br />Original (Colorless) - A lightweight silicone emulsion<br />Light (Colorless) - Oil free for acne prone or sensitive skin, controls oil and is 60% water<br />Color Adjust (Green) - Minimizes redness<br />Color Blend (Apricot) - Conceals under eye circles, veins, and sunspots<br />Color Balance (Lavendar) - For natural yellow skin tones<br />SPF 15 with Dermaxyl Complex - Clinically proven to reduce wrinkles<br />Bronzing - Adds a bronze hue to the face<br /><br />I use the Light formula because it is just as effective, but it water based and oil free. Colorless primers work on any skin tone.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjsJmf1K3-I/AAAAAAAABOI/coCFe2kyWgw/s1600-h/lauramercierprimer.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 50px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjsJmf1K3-I/AAAAAAAABOI/coCFe2kyWgw/s200/lauramercierprimer.jpg" alt="Laura Mercier Primer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348879539416784866" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Laura Mercier Foundation Primer</span><br />This is another popular primer for makeup artists. Many of Laura Mercier's products are expensive, so people may shy away from this product. These products are known for being creamy and blending into the skin well. A 1.7 oz bottle costs $30 at Sephora.<br /><br />There are four varieties of this primer:<br />Original - Oil free with vitamins A, C and E<br />Oil Free - For acne prone, oily and sensitive skin, its high water content soothes surface dehydration around blemishes<br />Hydrating - A creamy gel for dehydrated and/or aging skin<br />Mineral - A superfine, translucent powder to be used under mineral makeup (0.17 oz)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjsJqbiROPI/AAAAAAAABOQ/Dm_oMfwD1Go/s1600-h/rimmelfixandperfect.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 75px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjsJqbiROPI/AAAAAAAABOQ/Dm_oMfwD1Go/s200/rimmelfixandperfect.jpg" alt="Rimmel Fix and Perfect" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348879606983244018" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Foundation Primer</span><br />This is a primer available at drug stores including Walmart. I haven't seen any other drug store primers before. This primer is different because it's tinted apricot, but it doesn't come in any other shades. The color should disappear when blended into the skin, unless you have very pale skin. I have not tried it on dark skin either. If you are a first time primer user, you may want to try this one. A TV personality uses this and likes it, but it does not say that it is oil free or non-comedogenic. I tried it and it slightly irritated my skin, but I have overly sensitive skin. The primer quality was really good. I would recommend this for people who do not have sensitive or acne-prone skin. A 1 oz bottle costs about $7.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sjuhl2OcrFI/AAAAAAAABOY/dF_DZPVU-ig/s1600-h/macprepprimeskin.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 65px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sjuhl2OcrFI/AAAAAAAABOY/dF_DZPVU-ig/s200/macprepprimeskin.jpg" alt="MAC Prep + Prime Skin" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349046654015941714" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">MAC Prep + Prime Skin</span><br />MAC is a makeup artistry standard. Their primer has special effects silicone, calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. It does not mention being oil free or non-comedogenic. It is available at MAC stores or online. 1 oz $23.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Other Note Worthy Primers:</span><br />I have not tried these, but I would be willing to based on the description and price.<br /><br />Clear<br /><br />Sephora Smoothing Primer - Mattifying and smoothing, reduces shine, can be used as mixing medium to lighten foundation coverage 0.05 oz $18<br /><br />Sephora "Tricks of the Trade" Anti-Shine Primer - Mattifies skin for up to 8 hours, controlling and balancing sebum production 1 oz $18<br /><br />Phisolophy Never Let Them See You Shine Velvet Touch Primer - Dramatically reduces oil, enhances skin exfoliation and trans-epidermal water loss 1 oz $20<br /><br />Bare Escentuals Primer Time Foundation Primer Oil Control - Water-based primer for oily, sensitive or problem-prone skin, oil, fragrance, sulfate, dye, phthalate, and silicone free 1 oz $21<br /><br />Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch - Fills in lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores with acacia micro pearls (unknown size) $30<br /><br />Make Up For Ever All Mat - Silicone gel base, oil free, and designed to remove shine with long lasting results 1 oz $45<br /><br />NARS Makeup Primer - gel-cream with natural botanicals to reduce redness 1.7 oz $33<br /><br />LORAC aquaPRIME Oil Free Makeup Primer - water-based makeup primer, lightweight, oil, fragrance, silicone, parabens, sulfate, dye, petro-chemical, and phthalate free 1.35 oz $30<br /><br />Colored<br /><br />Sephora Professionnel Pefection Makeup Base - pink pearl infused for a subtle glow 1 oz $12<br /><br />Sephora "Tricks of the Trade" Perfection Primer - pink pearl and soft-focus pigments to reflect light 1 oz $18<br /><br />Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base - oil free with a sheer green tint to correct redness 1.35 oz $17.50<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Applying Primer</span><br />Apply the primer after applying moisturizer. You want to have a thin layer on your face that is evenly distributed and smooth. If you are applying it to yourself, you can use your fingers like you apply moisturizer. If you are applying it to someone else, you will likely use a foundation brush. The primer should set quickly and then you can apply foundation.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1870619277426283646.post-42347915011981257412009-06-18T15:57:00.009-05:002009-06-18T16:56:10.357-05:00All About MoisturizerEven if you have oily skin, moisturizer is a must. Not only does it prevent premature aging, but skin can overproduce oil if it's too dry. It's important for makeup because it will prevent dry makeup from looking chalky and helps the makeup stay on longer.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Oil vs Oil Free</span><br />I always suggest using oil free moisturizers. The only exception would be if you have skin that is so dry that it continuously flakes or if you have mature skin that is no longer prone to break outs or other sensitivities. I also look for ones that say they are non-comedogenic (won't clog pores).<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Face vs Body</span><br />Always use lotion that is specifically designed for the face. Lotion designed for bodies have more potential to block your sebaceous glands, which produce oil. They may also contain other ingredients like wax and fragrances.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">SPF vs Non-SPF</span><br />These days it's hard to find a moisturizer without at least SPF 15. For everyday use, you should use a moisturizer with SPF to prevent skin damage. However, SPF can cause white reflections with flash photography leading to a ghostly, shiny looking face. If you will be wearing sheer coverage foundation or tinted moisturizer in flash photography, make sure it doesn't contain SPF.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Acne Medicated</span><br />There are many products advertised as medicated for acne that contain salicylic acid. Anyone who has a sensitivity to aspirin products should<span style="font-weight: bold;"> not</span> use salicylic acid products. Salicylic acid may irritate skin and worsen acne. If your acne does not improve at all within 1 month or worsens when using a salicylic acid product, discontinue use.<br /><br />A few over the counter medicated acne products contain benzoyl peroxide. This is an ingredient that is prescribed by dermatologists to treat acne as facial creams. You may be familiar with the brand Proactiv, these are very low strength (2.5%) benzoyl peroxide products. You can find benzoyl peroxide products over the counter that are equally or more powerful (2.5-5%) for much less than the Proactiv system costs. You will need to read labels of the acne products and look for benzoyl peroxide. Again, if it has no effect or your acne worsens you may want to discontinue use. I was prescribed a benzoyl peroxide face cream before they identified the cause of my acne.<br /><br />I prefer to avoid all acne medicated moisturizers because they iritate my skin, which makes me break out instead of preventing or healing break outs.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Anti-Aging</span><br />There are too many anti-aging products on the market to count. The real key to anti-aging is taking care of your skin so that it stays youthful instead of trying to undue damage. Most anti-aging products just moisturize the skin more or contain silicon to fill in wrinkles, giving the appearance of improvement. Some products contain retinol, a vitamin A derivative. These will be the most effective anti-aging products. Other products claim that antioxidants are anti-aging. While antioxidants are great for you and may prevent future damage to your skin, they won't remove your sun damage and wrinkles.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Product Suggestions</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sjqzo3t1IcI/AAAAAAAABNY/yr0vbmmTBeI/s1600-h/olaycomplete.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sjqzo3t1IcI/AAAAAAAABNY/yr0vbmmTBeI/s200/olaycomplete.jpg" alt="Olay Complete" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348785022188200386" border="0" /></a>Overall Best Moisturizer: Olay Complete All Day Moisture for Sensitive Skin<br /><ul><li>Lightweight<br /></li><li>Oil free</li><li>Non-comedogenic</li><li>PABA Free<br /></li><li>Broad Spectrum SPF 15 UVA/UVB protection</li><li>Vitamin E and Aloe</li><li>Recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation</li><li>I use this product every day and I have never broken out from it</li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjqzrQv7d2I/AAAAAAAABNg/aCXYTCtED9M/s1600-h/olaytotaleffects.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjqzrQv7d2I/AAAAAAAABNg/aCXYTCtED9M/s200/olaytotaleffects.jpg" alt="Olay Total Effects" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348785063267628898" border="0" /></a>Best Dry Skin Moisturizer: Olay Total Effects Moisturizing Vitamin Complex, Fragrance Free<br /><ul><li>Thick and creamy</li><li>Oil free</li><li>Non-comedogenic</li><li>Color and fragrance free<br /></li><li>Vitamins B3, E and pro-vitamin B5</li><li>Diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles<br /></li><li>Improves surface dullness</li><li>Minimizes the appearance of pores</li><li>I used this product before I found the Complete All Day, it was a little too heavy for me</li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjqzuPJ-MFI/AAAAAAAABNo/TGNfwrnwd_0/s1600-h/olayregenerist.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 77px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjqzuPJ-MFI/AAAAAAAABNo/TGNfwrnwd_0/s200/olayregenerist.jpg" alt="Olay Regenerist" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348785114379595858" border="0" /></a>Best Fine Wrinkle Anti-Aging Moisturizer: Olay Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion<br /><ul><li>Lightweight<br /></li><li>Doubles skin surface cell regeneration vs untreated skin</li><li>Amino-peptide complex combined with vitamin C</li><li>Broad spectrum SPF 15 UVA/UVB protection<br /></li><li>Suitable for everyday use for normal, dry, and combination skin</li><li>I am a fan of the Regenerist line, I use the Daily Thermal Mini Peel</li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sjq3jsWCnaI/AAAAAAAABN4/KqkCKMOrvLE/s1600-h/rocdaily.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 56px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/Sjq3jsWCnaI/AAAAAAAABN4/KqkCKMOrvLE/s200/rocdaily.jpg" alt="Roc Daily Moisturizer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348789331282795938" border="0" /></a>Best Deep Wrinkle Anti-Aging Moisturizer: ROC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer SPF 15<br /><ul><li>Oil free</li><li>Non-comedogenic</li><li>Contains retinol, proven to reduce deep wrinkles<br /></li><li>ROC is one of the top companies in proven anti-aging products</li><li>I would suggest using this with the Deep Wrinkle Night Cream, Serum and Eye Cream<br /></li></ul><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjqzwxrermI/AAAAAAAABNw/bexOMTTt7IY/s1600-h/neutrogenaoilfree.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 59px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Cyf-00huAQk/SjqzwxrermI/AAAAAAAABNw/bexOMTTt7IY/s200/neutrogenaoilfree.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348785158006681186" border="0" /></a>Best Moisturizer for Photography: Neutrogena Oil-Free Moustire Combination Skin<br /><ul><li>Oil free</li><li>Noncomedogenic</li><li>Fragrance and alcohol free</li><li>Lightweight<br /></li><li>Moisturizes dry areas while controlling shine in oily areas</li><li>I included this because it's the only easily available SPF-free moisturizer that I have found and it is for sensitive, combination skin<br /></li></ul>As you can see, I am a big fan of Olay. Dab a little bit on your forehead, each cheek and chin. Rub the moisturizer evenly into your skin. Then apply it to your neck and declote (top of your chest, optional). Then proceed with your makeup application. If you don't want to use your fingertips you can use a foundation makeup brush or a cosmetic sponge. Using a sponge may cause loss of some product because it will be absorbed by the sponge. Apply moisturizer after every time you wash your face.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
